Remember the DIY d12 Handbag (of Holding) from a few weeks ago?

Welp, another knitting geek, Claire, knitted a d4 dice bag.

I’m swooning because she also posted the pattern! Hopefully Mom can make us one of these. :-) Remember the Space Invaders cap she made me last year (More Space Invaders Clothing, This Time It’s For Me!)?

Remember the old arcade or circus game called Whack-a-mole, the mole’s head would pop up out of random holes and you had to whack it on the head with a mallet?

GeekStuf4U has the latest iteration of this timeless classic in stock now, called USB Whack It. At that link are more photos, you can see that it fits in your hands and you can press the little mole heads down with your thumbs. This fun little gadget is US$33, 21€, ¥3,558.

Bonus: Play the Whac-a-Mole Flash game!

USB Whack it

I’m looking forward to this one coming out…on DVD.

Plot: Set in post-apocalyptic 2018, John Connor (Christian Bale) is the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

I guess somewhere there is a market for this. I’m not so sure, maybe for college kids and LAN parties?

The Linux Hater’s blog takes on the logic used by Linux zealots. Example:

Lusers: Linux is more stable, take for example all of Google runs Linux. Nasa uses Linux. The French administration uses Linux. Therefore Linux is good enough for you.

Linux Hater:

Holy crap. I’ve never heard this argument before! You know what, I’ll help you out. The NYSE runs Linux too! That’s really great to know. I’ll be sure to recommend Linux to my grandma next time she wants to set up a global stock exchange in her knitting room.

Lusers always like to find instances of companies or organizations with extremely uncommon Linux use cases and somehow say that the reason that I should run it on my computer. My fridge runs an embedded OS called FridgeOS (actually, I made that up, I don’t know the name). It supports four buttons and has better temperature controls than Linux. It’s really stable. I’ve never seen it crash. It’s also really minimal and won’t use all your RAM. You should totally port it to run on your PC. That would be truly awesome.

Bonus: It was at Linux Hater that I learned of Penguin Rage, a blog written by an experienced Linux user writing about the gripes and weirdness related to Linux and why it doesn’t always ‘just work’. Take for instance the rant on xserver.
