What is this site?
This site is simply a labor of love, nothing more but news and interesting links for those that geek out on gadgets, computers, comics, D&D, military, art, games, science and so much more. As you can see, I won’t discriminate; a geek is a geek is a friend of mine.
If you’re interested in the history of geeknews.net, check out the details written by one of the original owners of the domain on the Wayback machine in this 2001 archive’d page here.
It used to be a very very popular news aggregator and had a ton of original content back in the late 90’s and early 00’s. I’m a big fan of history and I hope I can help GN live up to its legacy though its doubtful I can return it to that level of popularity now that everyone and their dog is online with their own site 😉
Can I participate by writing content for geeknews?
Absolutely, I value diversity. Contact me
If it’s a labor of love, then what’s with the ads?
Although there are some adverts on the site, it’s not an indicator that it’s a for-profit adventure, I currently work for Microsoft so I’m not lacking in money right now. The intent for the adverts has changed over time with the original goal being to have the site pay for itself. That in itself has turned into the biggest failure in judgment thus far.
