Recently, my wife and I went on a long road trip cross country. We spent a lot of time talking but eventually, we reverted into our own little universes. I listened to an audiobook from my cellphone and my wife was using her tablet. Both devices quickly lost battery power and needed to be recharged. The car only had one USB port so we were taking turns charging our devices. What a drag that turned into for us. We lamented that mobile device batteries never last as long as one hopes. My wife spent time on our long drive playing Guts mobile online casino games and was worried about running out of battery power.
During a gas and drink stop we found a USB splitter on a rack that we snatched up and paid way too much for. I highly recommend that you buy one of these for each and every car you own. The one we bought comes with LED indicator for power status, supports over current and instant current protection to protect the connected devices and itself.
In today’s electronic age, everyone has the need to recharge a device while on the go. Frequently this means several people need to charge at the same time. In fact, I bought six USB splitters on sale at a retail store and kept them to give as gifts to busy moms toting tablet-watching kids around and dads with long commutes charging multiple items. Everyone loves getting this splitter for their car.
The splitter we used is much less complicated though, it was just a Y-Splitter. Some splitters are more advanced than others, I was a little interested in what’s inside of some of these, and found this interesting tear down of one.
