In-car infotainment systems are trending in vehicles in recent years and it’s not too many more years when most vehicles will come with these systems by default. It’s also seen as a class of device that is a growth opportunity for silicon vendors and operating system manufacturers.

On September 19 2012, many top car and device manufacturers announced a new workgroup had been formed to promote Linux to advance this OS in automotive device development.
