Bingoogle

Google’s interest is no doubt peaked piqued given all the buzz over Bing. I admit, Bing brings a couple of things to the table that Google doesn’t, though GOOG needn’t worry about losing significant share any time soon.

NY Post has the story.

The first sentence should read “Google’s interest is no doubt piqued”, not peaked.

peak·ed 2 (pkd)
adj.
Having a sickly appearance: You’re looking a little peaked today.
—————————————————————–
pique [peek]
Noun
a feeling of resentment or irritation, such as from hurt pride
Verb
[piquing, piqued]
1. to hurt (someone’s) pride
2. to excite (curiosity or interest) [French piquer to prick]

Thank you teacher. As I was typing that yesterday, something didn’t look right and I was too lazy to look it up. I should have known better.

*facepalm*

Of COURSE Google is going to be analyzing the competition’s offering. I’d be concerned if they were just sitting on their laurels. The result of the competition will be better performance for everyone, and I’m betting Google keeps its crown.

Hi Shadow, you’re absolutely right.

Now if the article is true, it would appear this goes beyond simply analyzing the competition. It has the appearance of Brin getting his hands dirty in an attempt to expedite the analysis. Similar to the few times Bill Gates would inject himself into a project when the stakes were a little higher than normal.

But of course, it’s all conjecture, we don’t know if he did this when Live was initially released, if he did then this is no different. If he gave Live short shrift and the analysis was relegated to the development team, then this would appear to be a unique situation which deserves attention if for no other reason that finally GOOG has taken notice.

In my opinion, I think he’s only digging into it because of the buzz Bing seems to be generating and this time next year we’ll forget about this. :-)

Microsoft Bing would be the closet competitor of Google. but i still use Google because it shows more relevant results on the serp.
