Spacesuit

Seems fitting actually that Oceaneering Intl Inc., best known for providing deep water services and products would be chosen by NASA to develop the next generation of spacesuits.

The current spacesuits were designed in the 70’s along with the shuttle, but those are old and busted, NASA is looking for the new hotness for use on the Intl Space Station and to help them land men on the moon again by 2020. To get there, NASA has the work scoped out to three phases for Oceaneering to develop 109 suits, 24 of those will be for lunar exploration and total cost to come in at $745 million. When you put on the reality glasses though you can see this contract easily topping out at $1.5 Billion.

I’m kind of partial to the one shown above, especially if it’s all bosomy and stuff. But you have to admit, whatever it ultimately looks like it’s going to be hella better than what Sam the poor rhesus monkey got from NASA in 1963 for their Mercury experiments. Poor Sam:
