Old stuff. I’ve payed for a can of soda with SMS, signed up for a class at my school using my phone and the mini-browser and received booking confirmations for my railroad tickets as SMS. Also, sometimes I go for months without using cash and years without visiting my bank office.

Hi Janne, thanks for commenting.

The value of sms wrt providing confirmations of a transaction are not unique, i agree there. Neither is *executing* very limited transactions with a business.

I think the uniqueness here is that a fast food company is opening up this capability on a national scale to deliver a meal. I’m certain that local mom and pop shops have probably had this as a value-add for a while. But the infrastructure requirements to scale this out to thousands of businesses/franchises around the nation is not trivial.

I suspect you may be living in Europe or Asia where SMS and mobile technologies, especially for monetary transactions, is old technology and at times much more advanced that the Americas. Here, we are way behind the times.

Thanks again!
