I’d guess scales, likely of a snake, though a fish is also possible.

I would agree…maybe a synthetic scale material…possibly snake or lizard.

It’s a blood python snake. The pics are really good, and i’m not a snake fan but there’s something about the pattern of the scales that just seems so cool, nice detail.
