Quad Core Wars: Next Round Goes To Intel’s QX9650?
The Quad core war continues.
AMD is racing to ship its Phenom X4 desktop chip (codenamed Agena) before the end of the year, but it looks like Intel is going to beat them to the punch with the hot new 45nm chip as the Core 2 Extreme QX9650 on Nov. 12. Intel’s Core 2 Extreme product page, leaves a lot to be desired at this point, though it does have some technical specs.
This initial release of the Qx9650 will be with a 3GHz clock, but Intel is hinting that it won’t be sitting at 3G for long. That’s a good thing because these cores seem to have been hanging around the 2-3GHz range for far too long.
