What Is It? - 9/28/07
Here we have two versions of the same object, don’t herniate yourself if you struggle with it, though if you have a wild guess then let’s hear it in the comments. Don’t be bashful.

What is it?

I can’t tell what that is. I almost looks like something that creates a mold, but the more I look at it, the less I think that is what it is.
With the hints in the article, I’m guessing an artificial hip joint?
It looks to me to be a weight distribution device, or possibly a shock absorbing device.
Yeah, I think TheSHADOW almost has it. It’s some sort of joint replacement, but not the hip. I’ve seen those, and it’s more of a ball, not like what the picture is.
The joint twists more than it bends from the look.
OK, I just saw a cervical joint replacement that looks similar, and going with the herniation, I’m calling it a cervical joint replacement.
Google Images is your friend - if you have an idea of what the heck it is in the first place.
Good work guys, Bryan hit the nail on the head, TheShadow got it going in the right direction by making a very intuitive guess that was so close, Patrick also made some interesting guesses that when you think about it are, in a way, semi-accurate as well.
Well done.
