Is your laptop battery showing its age? If you’ve looked at a replacement like I had to last year then you’re already aware of how costly it can be, well over a hundred dollars U.S.
If you’re handy with a soldering iron and not afraid to take a crack at replacing the guts of the battery then you can save upwards of 75% of the cost of a new battery by simply replacing the Li-Ion batteries that comprise your laptop battery.
This video is a quick step by step tutorial to the process from Kipkay.

Jul 4th, 2007‘geek killer’, I unapproved your follow-up post with the ID ‘tech sucks’. I relish controversial comments but we should do so in a respectful manner; killing and raping are over the line.

Jul 4th, 2007Tech is right lithium batteries are crazy dangerous and using a type that is incompatible with the charge circuit or the batteries shorting can result in the batteries building up hydrogen gas within the cell to the point it will cause the cell to burst and burn.
Andy I encourage you to remove this as this could be held civilly or even criminally liable for someone burning down their house or killing themselves because of this. Not to mention the guild that would go along with it.

Sure there’s pros and cons to this article…not to mention a nifty DIY project for those with enough interest, and the possibility of avoiding dropping a benny on a new battery. Chill out – if you’re interested enough in the stuff offered here, then I have confidence you’ve enough smarts to know if this project in within your capibilities or not, and act accordingly.

This is a whopping big liability issue, for the poster, and possibly the website hosting this content, with may different factors for something to go wrong. I think this should be removed before any lawsuits are engaged, and any future posts of this nature, should be screened for possible liability issues, and any resulting harm.
therefore denying the post. And if it is a post with reasonable issues, none that will affect you physically or your property, and still has safety issuses, come with warnings at the top of the posts. just to be safe.
